Engaging with younger generations on our proposals
We’ve now launched our Young Ambassador Forum for the proposed reservoir in Lincolnshire, getting students from local schools and colleges involved in shaping our plans.
Held at our temporary survey compound off Mareham Lane, near Scredington last month, the launch event gave students the chance to learn more about our proposals and speak to the project team.
Our first cohort of young ambassadors shared their views on the opportunities and challenges associated with the reservoir – giving us a fresh perspective on topics we know are important to local people.

Freddie, from Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford said: “I’ve got a big interest in geography, and I think this is a great opportunity to get involved in my local area and give my voice and express my opinions on what happens. It’s a multigenerational project and we’re the next generation it’s going to affect.”
It was also a chance for students to gain an insight into the range of careers connected to the project, from engineering and design, through to community engagement and public affairs.
Some members of the project team shared their own education and career journeys, and the wide range of opportunities associated with this large-scale project were highlighted. Students discussed higher education options and how the skills they’re developing now could support future career pathways.

Alice, from Bourne Grammar School said: “I think this has opened my eyes up to the opportunities that are available, and it's clear that Anglian Water support young people every step of the way.”
The Young Ambassador Forum will meet again later in the year, closer to our third phase of public consultation. This will be another great opportunity to hear their views and continue conversations about how major infrastructure projects unlock opportunities for younger generations.
We’re grateful to all those who attended the session and look forward to continuing to work with young people throughout the project journey.
