Anglian Water - Lincolnshire Reservoir

Update – 23 April 2026

An update on our proposed reservoir in Lincolnshire

We’ve been hard at work shaping our proposals for a new reservoir in Lincolnshire and have some important activity planned over the coming months.

From archaeological trial trenching to habitat surveys, we’re doing everything we can to better understand the land we could be working on and the project’s surrounding context.

After a busy survey period in 2025, our teams are out and about again to survey the area.

These surveys are helping us build a clear picture of ground conditions and the local environment across both the main reservoir site and areas identified for associated water infrastructure.

They’re a crucial part of the design development process, and the findings will help us provide more information on topics we know people are interested in.

What our surveys have told us so far

We made some interesting finds through the ground investigations we completed last year – including pottery fragments dating back to the first and second centuries AD. This is an exciting reminder of early Roman life in Britain and helps us better understand the area’s rich heritage.

We also discovered several ammonite fossils at the main reservoir site, which are the remains of prehistoric marine creatures that lived millions of years ago. This shows the area’s long‑standing geological connection to ancient seas.

With the next phase of surveys about to begin, we're looking forward to building on these discoveries and learning even more about the landscape. This will all help us deliver the project in the best possible way.

Where to find out more

Our survey plans this year will involve teams visiting both the main reservoir site and areas identified for associated water infrastructure. We’ll have a number of different teams doing different types of surveys across the year.

You can find out more about the surveys we’ll be carrying out – and our commitments to being a good neighbour while we're working – by reading our fact sheet, here.

Our plans for future consultation

As our survey work continues, we’re also planning our next opportunity to engage with local people and stakeholders about our latest proposals. We’re pleased to say that we currently plan to hold our third phase of public consultation in Autumn 2026.

Consultation is such an important part of developing our plans, and the insights you provided last time are continuing to help us to design a reservoir that goes beyond just supplying water. We want to create a place where people, nature and water can come together.

As soon as we have more information on the next phase of consultation, and what it will involve, we’ll be updating you on our plans.

Stay informed

We want to bring people along with us on this journey and will be sharing some exciting insights into the work we’re doing in the area. So, sign up to our e-newsletter here to stay up to date with all the latest project developments.
